WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW
Scalp Cleansing: Start by washing your scalp thoroughly to remove any dirt, oil, or styling products. Use a gentle shampoo and make sure your scalp is completely dry before proceeding.
Dermaroller Sterilization: Sterilize your dermaroller by soaking it in alcohol for about 10-15 minutes. This step is crucial to minimize the risk of infection when creating micro-injuries on your scalp.
Technique: Begin by dividing your scalp into sections to ensure even coverage. Using the dermaroller, gently roll it over the target area in multiple directions—up and down, side to side, and diagonally. Aim for 4-6 passes in each direction, applying enough pressure to feel slight discomfort but not pain. The goal is to create micro-channels without causing significant injury.
Frequency: Depending on your skin's tolerance and the size of the dermaroller (commonly 0.5 mm to 1.5 mm), you may use it 3 times a week or every 5-7 days. If you’re new to dermarolling, start with less frequent sessions to allow your scalp to adjust.
Timing: After dermarolling, immediately apply minoxidil. This is when the micro-injuries allow for better absorption of the product.
Dosage: Typically, 1 mL of minoxidil is sufficient for each application. Use the dropper or spray to apply it directly onto the treated area. If you're treating a larger area, you might need a bit more, but avoid over-applying, as it won’t enhance results and could lead to side effects.
Spread Evenly: Use your fingertips to gently massage the minoxidil into your scalp. This can help with absorption. However, avoid excessive rubbing to prevent irritation.
Avoid Washing: Do not wash your hair or scalp for at least 4 hours after applying minoxidil. This allows the product to penetrate deeply into the skin.
Avoid Other Hair Products: Refrain from using other hair products, such as gels or sprays, on the same day as your minoxidil application. These can interfere with absorption.
Daily Use:
For optimal results, use minoxidil consistently—typically twice a day, preferably at the same times each day. Adhering to this schedule is crucial for efficacy, as missing doses can diminish results.
Dermaroller Use:
Incorporate the dermaroller into your routine 2-3 times a week, preferably in the evening before applying minoxidil. This enhances absorption by creating micro-channels in the skin, allowing the serum to penetrate deeper for better results. Always sanitize the dermaroller before and after use to maintain hygiene.
Long-Term Commitment:
Hair growth takes time, so be prepared for a commitment of several months (usually 3 to 6 months) to notice visible improvements. Consistency and persistence are key. Combine regular dermaroller use with minoxidil application for optimal progress. Keep in mind that stopping the treatment can lead to a reversal of any gains made.
